A March 1, 1993 in the German city of Cologne opened a new record store called ‘Delirium’ created by four friends, Wolfgang Voigt, Reinhard Voigt, Jürgen Paape and Jörg Burger, those who joined them shortly Michael Mayer, at 5 years of operation of the store, in 1998, started his experience as record label, distributor, record store and event organizing activities, changing the name to the current Kompakt, and his first reference was to one of the label’s founders Jürgen Paape and its 12″ ‘Triumph’, from then until now, have been pointing out a very important part of the way and evolution of electronic music, techno, minimal, house, tech-house, ambient, electronic pop……. all great merit the company formed by these 5 friends, this year marks 20 years since the beginning of this adventure (triumphant adventure, full of success and global recognition), with over 500 references in the market, this past March published the compiled label 20th anniversary consists of 25 tracks, difficult job selecting tracks for a compilation of this magnitude, and this week published the second part of these 20 years, another 24 tracks select that with we listen this compiled, we come to mind past and most recent memories, because it is an excellent choice, from the masterpieces of Jürgen Paape‘s ballad ‘So Weit Wie Noch Nie “(2002) or the dance track ‘Take That’ (2007), Michael Mayer with one of his top tracks ‘Pride Is Weaker Than Love’ Speicher # 2 (2002), one of the hits of the label, Lawrence and his ‘Teaser’ (2002) and Reinhard Voigt with ‘Robson Ponte’ (1999), the duo Thomas Schaeben and Heiko Voss and his ‘Ach Komm’ (2001), the gem of Superpitcher of ‘Irre’ included in the Speicher 4 (2002), the wonder and magic Closer Musik with ‘Maria’ from the EP ‘You Do not Know Me’ (2002), the duo from Barcelona of Ferenc (DJ Fra & Aután) with a Michael Mayer remix for his track ‘Yes Sir, I Can Hardcore’ ( 2003), the super-danceable ‘Frozen World’ by Peter Grummich (2004), Mikkel Metal with his great song ‘Dorant’ (2004), the magic and fun ‘The Days Of Pearly Spencer’ by The Modernist aka Jörg Burger (2006), Steadycam with ‘Knock-Kneed’ (2006) which was published in the K2 sub-label, the French electronic gem with Oxia ‘Domino’ Speicher 34 (2006), British collaboration of Perc with Canadian Fractal and the track ‘Up’ Speicher 52 (2007), the Swedish quality with Aril Brikha and his classic ‘Berghain’ included in their Winter EP (2007), the duo of founders of the label, Jörg Burger and Wolfgang Voigt with one of his greatest tracks ‘Bring Trance Back To Reality’ (2007), the epic Shumi (half of Okinawa 69) ‘The Wind And The Sea’ included in its only EP Jump For Joy (2009), the debut in the label of the danish master Kölsch with this new project, with his classic ‘Loreley’ Speicher 68 (2010), another excellent debut on the label, with the gem of CoMa and the track ‘Playground Altona’ from his debut EP on Kompakt ‘Famous’ (2011), another recent classic, with Walls and the magic of ‘Sunporch’ (2011); the excellent German duo of Sascha Funke and his wife Julienne Dessagne, Saschienne and that dark and brutal composition ‘Grand Cru’ from their debut album Unknown (2012), the excellent collaboration in the voices of Tomas Hoffding (WhoMadeWho) with high class music of Terranova, and other current classical ‘Question Mark’ (2012) or one of the bands that recently joined the label, the danish trio of WhoMadeWho and their delicate ‘Below The Cherry Moon’ included on their album Brighter (2012 ). Excellent compiled, to listen again and again, on repeat mode …… A must for understanding electronic music of the last 2 decades.
