An interview with Freddie Future

Up-and-coming dance-pop artist Freddie Future is back once again with “Haunted” another groundbreaking sound masterpiece. The musician’s latest original production is paired with riveting visual accompaniment, and it also directly follows “Loving You (So High)” from the end of August, marking it as the talent’s second release of the year thus far. Plus, it follows previous acclaimed singles like “Leave Me Cold,” “Too Heavy,” and 2019’s “Like It Never Happened.” Now available through Physical Presents, “Haunted” is available to listen to on all streaming platforms.

We have had the pleasure of interviewing him and this has been the result.

Can you tell us a little about your experience? Where are you from / how did you get into music? Was it all internet based?

I’m based in Toronto and love it here. Growing up, I played music and wrote songs with my friends. Music has always been an important part of my life. I always wanted to make music my career.

Who have been your main inspirations (both musical and in “life”)? And how have they affected your sound?

I’m really intp Rufus Du Sol and Elderbrook at the moment. Their vibe has really inspired my songs.

How would you define your sound?

Indie electronic, chill house.

How has your sound evolved so far?

I’ve developed my sound to a place where I’m confident and proud of the music I’m releasing.

What can you tell us about your last job? What inspired you? What do you want to convey?

Working in the music industry and being surrounded by so many talented people has been a big inspiration.

What can you tell us about each song that makes up your latest work? What is hidden behind?

‘Haunted’ talks about trying to make a relationship work when it’s already run its course…the feeling of being so enamoured and infatuated with the other person that it’s impossible to move on. No matter how much time passes, you’re still haunted by their love and it’ll always be a part of you.

How are you living the current situation because of COVID? Has your work affected you a lot? Do you think there is hope? I feel like the underground scene will continue to persist.

I’ve taken this opportunity to work on my new music which is out now and more to be released in the coming months.

What projects are you working on right now?

My new single ‘Haunted’ was just released along with the music video. Super hyped to have it out in the world!
