An interview with Third Son

0
Third Son creates music that works in all settings and transcends genres. His openness to a wide range of sound is what has both made him a widely loved favourite, but also someone who operates in his own parallel musical world. We had a chance to talk to him, so enjoy your reading and check out his latest releases.

1 –When and how did you get your interest in electronic music?

Around the age of 15 I heard Radiohead’s Kid A album. Man that really changed things for me. I think it was the first time I’d heard real warmth and depth in that sort of thing.

2 – What have you been doing with your time in lockdown in your city or country?

I wrote and released an album in 20 days. That was stressful. Aside from that I’ve been composing for various things, and working on my tan of course.

3 – How do you assess the trajectory you have had and what were the reasons that led you to start it?

I’m not really one to follow trends, but run off what inspires me at the time. I feel like I’ve done pretty much every style out there, and i’m proud of that.

4- What was your criterion when producing your last EP?

Classic pads, warm analogue basses, catchy hooks

5 – Could you recommend a set that you are especially proud of, and that we can see on your Soundcloud or on YouTube?

Sure, my set from the end of last year at Razzmatazz Barcelona – I played live and it was very enjoyable indeed

6 – What can you tell us about the scene of your city? What would you improve?

Having lived in london for around 6 years, I love the scene here. But right now during COVID times, it goes without saying i’d change a lot. I actually worry about the landscape when all of this finally comes to an end.

7 – Finally, what can you tell us about your present and future projects?

I’ve got a load of new music ready to come out on various labels, as well as my own, and a couple of very exciting projects on the go. How vague.
