Joe Turner – Too Much [LG105]

0

Multi-instrumentalist and producer Joe Turner reveals his first single from 2021 “Too Much”, available now on LG105. Mixed by Joe and mastered by Stuart Hawkes (Disclosure, Mura Masa, Rudimental), ‘Too Much’ takes listeners on a euphoric journey from start to finish, showcasing Joe’s ability to weave intricate layers around prominent chords and vocal samples. , before heading into an electric guitar breakdown. The record also marks a change of art direction for Joe, as he collaborates with Melbourne artist Edapollo (Hayden James, Outlier Event-Bonobo & Gabrielle Aplin) for the artwork for the singles.

Through solid arrangements and solid programming, this record becomes a vehicle for reverential music that manages to spill out enough of the artist’s own ideas to shake off the high age, allowing it to exist in its own right as credible. Turner manages to distill it admirably into a record that turns out to be an attentive listener from start to finish. Plus with his use of percussion, this electro progressive track finishes as loud as this record demands

Altogether, this album is as experimental as it is intense and addictive, it takes over oneself like sweet poison, while progressively transporting us, as few producers with a certain fluidity are willing to do. We do not know what the future holds, but we do know that this record is testimony to a turbulent and uncertain present, which will remain in our memory forever. For records like this, we can continue to fight for a better future.
