Permanent Wave – Noir EP [Nein Records] (2015)

From the British imprint of Nein Records, run by Tronik Youth, this week we have the debut of a new project called Permanent Wave, a project with the idea of recovering all the aroma of the 80s underground music, a dark and sinister music, a project formed by the owner of the label, the veteran Dj and producer of Tronik Youth aka Neil Parnell who this year published his anticipated and highly recommended debut album after more than one decade as a producer, and the young artist and singer of Justine, an artist with French origin and resident in London, who has collaborated with Heretic for the labels of Relish Recordings and Nein Records, and debuted this past summer with his own EP on Nein Records, and now these 2 artists have teamed up to give out to tehir love for the darker sounds from the 80s, a project which is now presents their first single.

‘Noir EP’ is the debut of Permanent Wave in Nein Records, a debut that is presented with 2 cuts, one original composition of the duo, and a cover of a classic song, opening this debut with the original cut of ‘Noir Obscure’, a cut that since it name introduces us to those dark atmospheres, a composition that begins with the recording of a demo by Justine in his home, and then together to Tronik Youth in the recording study has been completed, a cut full of mystery, synthesizers from a film of B series, percussion with all the flavour of the 80s, and the deep and sinister voice of Justine reciting the composition, a journey on lonely roads in the middle of the night, with sinister creatures that threaten us.

The second cut of Permanent Wave is a cover of a classic song from Iggy Pop of 1977, the song of ‘Sister Midnight’ (included in his album of The Idiot), a cut that was written and produced half with David Bowie, a classic song that now with this duo recovers to fill it with dark atmospheres, twisting the original, with a vcoals from Justine more darkes and mysterious, synthesizers replacing guitars and some metallic percussion to bring this cut to the sound of Permanent Wave.
