New premiere by Dubmentalist, Journey.
We love dub, especially when accompanied by breaks and exquisite synthetic work. Dubmentalist, a DJ and producer from France, gives us a preview of one of the tracks from his upcoming work on Syrinx Music, a label celebrating its tenth release.
A member of the French bass scene since the late 2000s, Olivier Satre has patiently built his style in drum&bass, breaks, and more, making great use of numerous devices and instruments he found in flea markets and secondhand stores. “The Journey EP” showcases this approach to sound: anchored in contemporary halftime d&b, it veers towards a more narrative and introspective version, with touches of IDM and 90s electronica. These four tracks can also be seen as a story of the Dubmentalist project, blending loops, samples, and scars that were sometimes collected more than 15 years ago… available from May 31st.
