Rone – Creatures [InFiné Music] (2015)

The French producer of Rone aka Erwan Castex has just released his new album, ‘Creatures’, and as in the previous 2 in the French imprint of InFine Music, 7 years, 3 albums, this time Rone presents an album with 12 tracks, in which 9 of them are guest artists to collaborate in the compositions, a sometimes daunting task, since both collaborator sometimes subtraction the unit to it, an album in which Rone presents one Rone more intimate and lyrical, more deeper, one further investigation in the sounds, instruments and the treatment of the voices, if in the previous album Rone moved to Berlin for his recording, this time, Rone travels to the small town in the North of France of Dreux to be more intimate, quiet and work at a more leisurely pace. An album that opens as an intro with the 3 minutes of ‘(00)’, epic and mysterious to make way for ‘Acid Reflux’ in which collaborates Japanese trumpeter of Toshinori Kondo, a track that could is part of an imaiginaria film, with Toshinori making flow his trumpet between minimalist instrumentation electronic of Rone; in ‘Mortelle’ with Etienne Daho on the voices and Bryce Dessner (The National) on guitars to describe a complex landscapes of sound, magic and cosmic; epic structures with ‘Sing Song’, and atmospheric environments, spacy with ‘Memory’; delicious and complex composition of ‘Sir Orfeo’ with the voice of Sea Oleena, an angelic voice as opposed to saturated and cosmic sounds, brilliant composition; and the single presentation of this album, ‘Ouija’, to reach dark e investigating the sounds and their treatment; ‘Calice Texas’ with the collaboration of Bachar Mar-Khalifé, singing the composition and Toshinori Kondo as composer, epic, and that voice which rises it to the heaven; curious and strange on ‘Freaks’ with the cellist Gaspar Claus, as if were a horror film, nervous and dark composition; the pop voice French of François Marry (François And The Atlas Mountains) in ‘Quitter La Ville’ with the electronics of Rone, a voice that gives a special touch to the composition, melancholy and tension in the same composition, and closing the album, as an outro with ‘Vif’ with the collaboration of Bryce Dessner (The National).
