We are in awe of the latest release from Back Door Records. His releases have spanned a multitude of genres and styles. Now, in this compilation “Northern Shelter”, we see that the label brings back a number of old friends from previous albums along with a group of new collaborators that they wish to shed light on. And this time they bring a direct and dizzying sound, faithful to their philosophy, presenting such unique nuances that they manage to shape unique pieces, running the lines between the funkiest cuts of Deep House and a more raw classic House sound.
The album is made up of 8 tracks by different artists based in Florida who are contributing to help communities affected by the US border crisis, by purchasing this release Back Door is donating 50% of the proceeds to Save The Children , at a time when it is sorely needed. Along with the digital release, this disc will offer a limited edition cassette, strictly limited in numbers but something different for collectors to pick up and enjoy.
Each track resonates from the depths, and manages to delve into a unique and very personal sonic cosmos, covering a wide range of sonic textures that will make our speakers roar. The set feels like a DJ set in its heyday, varied and united in equal measure.
All the tracks converge to combine an album as experimental as it is intense and addictive, which takes over oneself like a sweet poison, while progressively transporting us, as few producers with a certain fluidity are willing to do.
We do not know what the future holds, but we do know that this album is a testimony to a turbulent and uncertain present, which will remain in our memory forever.
