The French couple joins me to interview one of the most provocative and interesting bets of the house scene. Meet Camion Bazar

Welcome guys, we know you artistically as Camión Bazar, any reason why you got this aka?

Camion in French means a van, a truck. And bazar it’s a big beautiful mess. We used to ride this nice truck across France and Europe, with a sound-system, turntables and hand-made scenography in it, stop at festivals where we were invited to curate our stage, playing for dozens of hours and then move to the next festival. It was a nomad party life. Then people started to call the both of us like this, and the name remained.

You are the owner of Jaki Records, how is your daily work as label owners and what is the aesthetic of the imprint?

Jaki is still a young label, that we mainly use for our own releases and to express our creativity and be as free as we can.

Do you perform predominantly as DJ’s or do you have a Live act? What dates do you have coming up and where?

We used to perform only as a DJ duo, but since February, we are now touring with our very first live show : «Alteration». It’s a live A/V, about altered states of consciousness. We have many synthetizers, effect pedals, drum machines, sequencers, a bass guitar and a mic, to sing. It’s a big performance, mainly house and techno music but with a bit of rock, punk, acid and even pop. The first big event was at La Machine du Moulin Rouge, in Paris. In April we will perform at Radio Meuh, and Les Z’ecléctiques, in May at the well-known Nuits Sonores in Lyon. In June you can find us at Fusion, in Germany, Pete the monkey festival in July, Beton le Havre in August and so on. But we still love to perform as djs, we’ll play our first all night long at Rex Club, the 30th of April for instance 🙂

Can you share with us any important news about Jaki Records, the next releases or anything recent you’d like to mention?

In March we released one of our biggest EP, Alteration EP, supporting our live show and tour. And early May, we’ll release a Various Artists with 7 remixes by great artists (Gallegos, Voodoos & Taboos, Vitess, Neida, OCB aka Driss Bennis, Ruff Stuff, LB aka Labat).

Which one do you consider to be the most important release in your whole career so far?

The most important release has not be released yet 🙂

But if we have to choose, we’ll say Alteration EP, because it’s very eclectic (supported by great artists such as Dj Harvey and Idjut boys, Yu Su & more), it’s the most accomplished and ikt was created with our live act, which is one of the most important thing that we have done so far.

Anything else you can share with us from your life, any special things happening right now, some special places you’ve visited or something you’ve seen, read or heard lately?

We are reading a great book «1312 raisons d’abolir la police» = 1312 reasons to abolish the police. Through these years, all our thoughts are about this society and the need to create a new one.

We are watching : «Esterno notte», an Italian 6-episodes tv show, on the kidnapping and the assassination of Aldo Moro by the red Brigade, in Italy. Another reflexion about the system.

We are listening every day to 3 amazing albums : «Waypoints» by Hans Berg, «Gazé» by GGGG and the classic «Amnesiac»by Radiohead.

Right now we’re writing from the Drôme Provençale, a small paradise with mountains, hills, rivers, woods and nice anarchistic communities of artists, where we are taking a few days off.

And we’re working hard on our next EP, which will be slightly different from the others, as it’s conceived in a moment of anger and political engagement. So a lot f techno and punk vibes to come!
