Known for its funky, groovy house productions and parties, Amsterdam based label PIV Records brings back family artist M-High for his ‘By My Side’ release this September 24th. Since 2019, Marijn has released on Whyostro and Blind Visions, as well as playing the PIV stage at BPM Costa Rica.
With 3 originals and a remix from Jovonn, the package has a lot to offer. Its groovy, with deep bass and skippy percussion. Vocals on the title track add vibe to get the dancefloor moving. My personal favourite on the EP is ’Tomorrow Is Another Day’, its a deeper track but still uptempo.
His latest work is a euphoric psychedelic experience, in which each song takes the listener on his own sonic journey, until closing a set as experimental as it is intense and addictive, which takes over oneself like a sweet poison, while progressively transporting us, like few. other producers with a certain fluency are willing to do so. Built on the legacy of those who came before it, M-High has grown into a talent whose music will influence generations to come.
With this work we enter an amazing soundscape. It is an energetic and danceable adventure, capable of completely resetting us.
The result of this return of M-High is a complete romantic ode to eclecticism, which is sustained in an ambiguous terrain at times between multiple genres, but it is there where this singular producer achieves his final goal: to sound new without being it, to sound old without look like it, masterfully alternating each genre and stepping out of the labyrinth knowing that, whether it’s been forwards or backwards, the journey has been worth it.
