Iterations is the second album by Federico Chiesa alias Oora. While his first album Memoria was a nostalgic journey back to his childhood, Iterations is, conversely, an escape from forced confinement, both physical and mental.
His latest work is also the consolidation of a career marked by the need to express his emotions through each of his pores. His latest work lands this season and he does so marking a turning point in his career. Each clue is unearthed from a specific intended landscape. The result is a cinematic experience that rises to an uplifting crescendo. Few producers know how to play his cards as well as he does, scoring an album that questions the rules of the genre, building a timeless set, to which we will go over time trying to decipher that magical and complex mechanism that achieves and transcends all expectations.
For the first time in the production of it, Chiesa goes beyond the limitations of the strict use of analog synthesizers and drum machines. In the past he made extensive use of classical hardware such as the 303 and the 808, while incorporating sporadic field recordings and acoustic instruments. His vision for this album was to create an unattainable sound space as a refuge from the walls of his daily apartment. And this vision is transferred to the listener, managing to turn this sound experience into a refuge from an increasingly delusional world.
With Iterations, Oora has managed to build a utopian world. It is a whole lesson, a way of understanding not only music, but culture, beyond the precariousness that currently prevails, and that takes it as something expendable, as if music, books or art did not save us . Forget for a moment about this magical present, close your eyes and let yourself be carried away by each of the notes that this singular producer proposes to you, because within Iterations he is safe and it seems that everything is starting over.
