R.Missing leaves nothing behind and confirms the mission that electronic music has always had: to play with the present and move towards the unknown, beyond entertainment. The result is a work as experimental as it is intense and addictive, which takes over oneself like sweet poison, while progressively transporting us, as few producers with a certain fluidity are willing to do. We do not know what the future holds, but we do know that this record is testimony to a turbulent and uncertain present, which will remain in our memory forever. For records like this, we can continue to fight for a better future.
We have had the pleasure of speaking with R.Missing and this has been the result.
Can you tell us a little about your experience? Where are you from / how did you get into music? Was it all internet based?
We’re from assorted maritime points, and all of this is mostly by chance. The Internet runs parallel to us.
Who have been your main inspirations (both musical and in «life»)? And how have they affected your sound?
The overshadowing inspiration is meaning-making, which may or may not affect sound.
How would you define your sound?
Angular, cut off.
How has your sound evolved so far?
The aim is to systematize above all else. Any evolving that takes place may simply be an aftereffect.
What can you tell us about your last work: «Placelessness and Saturnining»? What inspired you? What do you want to convey?
Castles in the air inspire. I wish to convey farawayness, to make a case for short-lived foreverness.
What can you tell us about each song that makes up your latest work? What is hidden behind?
These songs are free of hidden meanings, riddles or cautionary tales. They are unknowable.
How are you living the current situation because of COVID? Has your work affected you a lot? Do you think there is hope? I feel like the underground scene will continue to persist.
This different world seems less and more stationary at the same time. There are more opportunities for bystanders. The underground scene is sensitive yet inexorable.
What projects are you working on right now?
The project is the future and the future is the project.
