An Interview with La Deep – Nordic Trax

We have the great pleasure of interviewing Bethal DJ and producer La Deep. The Afro House music specialist.

He has just released his latest EP on Nordic Trax Records and we took the opportunity to ask him a few questions to get to know him a little better.

Hello La Deep! Nice to have you here in Como las Grecas, well tell us first. How did you get into the world of electronic music production?

Hello, thank you for having me. I had a friend who was a fan of Soulful house music. He listened to artists such as The Layabouts, Blue Six, Atjazz and Reel People to name a few. He was also a producer. We’d get together as a group of friends and play around with instruments we had at the time whilst we make music. When he showed me his music software, I immediately fell in love with the idea that you could make your own records and listen to them on your way to school. That’s pretty much how I started out in electronic music world. I have been producing and releasing music since I was a teenager.

We know that your speciality is deep but, have you released on any other label with other musical styles or other loves?

Majority of my catalog that I have out is deep house but there is also an Afro house record I have with the infamous Nervous Records of NYC. I do have some techno and melodic house records unreleased that one should look forward to hearing. I like Electronic music as a whole. Yes I might have a favorite sub genre but I wouldn’t hold back on not making a melodic house or a techno record.

What can you tell us about the scene of your city? What would you improve?

There are facilities that are there but some Playlist curators are hostile to the type of music I play in my area. However there are some people who appreciate electronic music and are refreshed by when listening to a different sub genre of house. I would want to improve the platforms and promote a multi genre platform that showcases diversity and appreciation to unique local talent as well as the tourism sector.

How was the production process of Danford EP?

The EP started out with the main track of which I did during summer last year. Then through time it came together along with a remix of Danford from Gavin Boyce which was outstanding!
