Welcome to our interview with an accomplished DJ and producer, boasting 14 years of experience in the music industry. With a portfolio that includes collaborations with renowned labels like Trippy Code and OURGRND, this artist has mastered mixing techniques across various equipment. Notably, in 2024, they founded the «No Request Festival» in Paris, supported by industry giants such as Tale of Us and Kevin de Vries. Their passion for music is evident in their ability to seamlessly blend genres like Techno and Melodic Techno. We are excited to delve into their journey, vision, and future aspirations in the music world.
DJ & Producer: What inspired you to pursue a career as a DJ and producer, and how did you sustain your passion over 14 years?
Luca Belluco : I struggled with school failure my entire life due to non-hyperactive ADHD and bullying. I found myself isolated among peers who didn’t embrace differences, and loneliness set in.
Music became my greatest passion—jazz, rock, soul, funk, etc. One night, I was invited to a party where a DJ was playing. I asked if I could try, and suddenly, a rush of warmth overcame me as people responded to what I transmitted. Music is a journey we convey through our knowledge and skills, and that night, I somewhat succeeded in getting people to dance for the first time!
I found a way to speak and connect with people without fear of rejection or being different. Since then, I haven’t looked back, and I’ve made excellent connections.
Record Labels: How do you choose the labels you work with, and what has been your most rewarding project with them so far?
Luca Belluco :I select labels based on my musical style (Melodic Techno in my case). My most ambitious project was signing with Progressive Dreamer, where each of my tracks reached between 10 and 30K views! I was over the moon ?
And this year, signing with OURGRND for the remix of Bonnie Tyler has been a highlight.
Equipment Mastery: Which type of equipment do you prefer, CDJs or controllers, and why? Can you share a memorable performance where your technical skills were put to the test?
Luca Belluco. : I much prefer CDJs because you can play without a computer, making it easier to perform. You just input your USB and select the playlist you want to use!
In terms of memorable performances, I remember playing on two stages: Delta Festival and Summer Festival in Marseille. Initially nervous due to the sparse audience, I managed to seamlessly mix track after track, and it went really well.
Festival Creation: What sets the «No Request Festival» apart from other music festivals, and what impact do you hope it has on the music scene in Paris?
Luca Belluco : The No Request Festival is a festival where various music styles blend together—you can come at 3:00 PM to listen to Reggae and stay until 3:00 AM for Hard Techno. It’s a multicultural and diverse festival.
I hope it will have a significant impact similar to Madam Loyal or Peacock Society.
Industry Recognition: Being supported by artists like Tale of Us must be gratifying. How do you leverage this recognition to further your career?
Luca Belluco : I’m not directly supported by them, but they support the label where I signed.
Agency Goals: In joining your new agency, what are some specific projects or collaborations you are looking forward to, and how do you plan to innovate within the music industry?
Luca Belluco : If I join an artistic agency, I believe they will do their best to book me for stages and other opportunities, as well as support me with my projects.
