The German DJ / producer of Boys Noize a.k.a. Alexander Ridha has recently released his third studio album for his own label, Boysnoize Records, a record that sounds reviewing its origins updating them, and for the first time presents the album in ‘Live’ format, a totally new format for the German artist, accompanied with a new visuals chord with music and a big skull-shaped element, on stage, on Wednesday Nov. 7, held the presentation of the album at Razzmatazz, Barcelona (an event that has the participation of Boys Noize and the Djs of http://www.facebook.com/events/303746309740010/ and local Dj of Sidechains), an event totally recommended from the blog.
Thanks to the RazzmatazzRazzmatazz for providing this interview with Boys Noize:

– 8 years with Boys Noize project, and now the third album, ‘Out Of The Black’, an album in which you look back to the beginning sounds of Boys Noize, how do you see this latest album?

i feel that my new album has a lot of moments that remind me of my first and second album. for this album i locked myself away in the studio for months and try to forget what is going on outside to really focos on what i love about electronic music.

– What was the creative process for this album? What instruments did you use?

oh i have too many instruments to meantion haha. but before the album i bought a couple new ones just like the new Dave Smith & Roger Linn “Tempest” , the OB-8 which also gave a good color to a lot of tracks and my new Arp2600. i always use all the Electron gear too or a real Bass-Guitar if i need it.

– After so many years, and always with a very high level in all sessions, how is projected this tour, which is your first live, which support you use for it?

it’s the very first time i m performing my own music only live. since i got 3 albums now it makes so much sense
and it s a new way of challaging myself. i also worked with my friends Pfadfinder to create a visual show that is linked to everything i do + there is another biG element on stage 🙂

– How do you see the evolution of electronic music in recent years?

it s great, i m always a fan of new technology and stuff. a lot of producers go back to the old-school sound and there are a lot of young talented producers.

– Where is more comfortable Boys Noize, when creating music, as producer, remixes or with collaborations works?

i am a dj first i think, thats how everything started and i m so passionate about it. when it comes to producing music, i sometimes prefer to be alone in the studio, doing what i love only.

– In 2005 you founded the label Boysnoize Records, which has become a hallmark of reference, or currently as sub-label BNR Trax, do you see the evolution of the label and its current status?

it s cool that people can release music for free everywhere in the net, things like soundcloud make it so easy but i feel like we need a quality filter to figure out the good music, that s why i still love to sign music on boysnoize records. i think labels are becoming more important now again. BNR TRAX is more about “tool” records, just good tracks to play out and it can be real techno or house or whatever sounds good and works in my sets.

– What are your plans after this album and tour Live?

make more music 🙂

– We’ve seen you in clubs, festivals crowded, and always with excellent results ….. Where do you feel most comfortable? Are there different ways to prepare the performance?

i love to play in clubs most i think. you are more closer to the people and you have longer sets where you can really build an atmosphere. festivals are great too because of the amout of people and that gives me alot of power when i play. i do prepare my sets everytime i play, in clubs or festival. i buy new music everyday and i get to send new demos all the time and i m the guy that likes to try out new things.

– What artist would you like to make a remix or work with it?

prince

– What are the artists / producers that have influenced you?

soo many, again too many to mention.

A lot of Thanks to Boys Noize & Razzmatazz
