We interviewed the Italian music producer who has been releasing very interesting music for numerous labels such as iVAV, Colore or this last one they have prepared for their own label, Observatory Records. We are talking about M.F.S: Observatory, who we interviewed in Como las Grecas and recorded an exclusive podcast to enjoy his music while he answers some questions…
How is life going as a solo artist?
Hey guys, thank to invite me, life as a solo artist is fine, I have always been dedicated to my trade, so in that respect that has stayed the same. I am trying to produce a lot of music during this time to get ready for the new year, and the exciting times ahead. I have set myself some personal goals for the next years, so I am trying to set myself up in the best manner that I can.
How is the workflow now there is just you involved and not two of you?
My workflow is the same, just now there is no back and forth with a partner. We were working remotely from each other with me being in London, and Francesco in Italy, so my actual day to day production has not changed so much at all. I am always trying to experiment with music and add to each track a lot of different influences that inspire me, and these inspirations are not always from music but it is how I translate them into my sound which I love.
You are based in London, what are your favourite clubs and parties to go to in the city?
To be honest with you, I do not have favourite clubs or certain parties I consistently go to, this is not so much my thing. In general, I follow the artists, so I always try to follow my favourite producers and musicians if they are around in the city. The experience for me revolves around the artist, and their particular sound. London culture in general is something I draw inspiration from in itself, a totally different vibe to back in Italy.
What have your highlights been of 2021?
Despite the current world situation we still managed to have some highlight moments, particularly releases, again this year we have been fortunate enough to work with some fantastic labels and artists, but I must admit the best for me was the release of the EP in collaboration with Maya Jane Coles. Maya is someone who I look up to as an artist, and as a person so of course when we come together it feels very special.
What do you have coming up in the new year?
I have a lot already coming up for next year, there is only so much I can talk about, but I am beyond excited. First up, in January I will release again on Dense & Pika’s label Knenead Pains , this is a three track EP in collaboration with Lazy Ants. Also, I have an upcoming EP on Street Tracks, Superfett and Takeout (Food Music sister label). I can’t wait for you to hear them.
You made a mix for us alongside the interview, how would you describe your sound to our readers?
The sound of the mix is from techno to breakbeat, a powerful combination which I would say summarises my sound as a DJ. During this time I want people to listen to this sound and forget about their troubles, and find themselves lost within the music.
