Nir Shoshani is a veteran dj and producer with over 20 years of experience, hailing from Tel Aviv, Israel. Producing and performing Live worldwide he built a solid reputation over time.
Nir har the ability and perspective to see far and wide into dance music, picking the best elements of different genres and fusing them together to express his vision, and creating a unique and distinctive sound.
As the founding member of the Israeli techno label «Punch Music», Nir collaborated with FunkD’void, Alex Niggemann and Muzarco and was also remixed by artists such as SimonGarcia, Harvey Mckay, Agaric, Jay Tripwire, John Tejada, Marc Marzenit and Perc.
When and how did you get your interest in electronic music?
*In the early ’90s there were illegal outdoor parties here in Israel, they were called Acid Parties back then.
The Music ranged between Acid house and techno and the first trance tunes.
So after going to a few of them I got hooked and began exploring buying everything I could get my hands on which wasn’t easy at the time as not many record shops had sold dance music in Jerusalem.
How has your sound evolved so far?
*I feel that my sound is evolving every day, depending on my mood and my interests at the certain time I’m producing a track.
On one day I can hear an interesting Arabic melody in the market and this would influence my track on the next day I could discover a new plugin or learn new tricks so these will influence the evolution of my sound.
with that being said I am always keeping my «first love» which is the vibe that has inspired me in the early days of those acid parties so the listener can hear the connection between tracks I have made 10 years ago and tracks that I produce today.
What can you tell us about the scene of your country? Is there anything you would improve?
*The scene in my country is getting bigger and better there are more events and festivals (now they are coming back after covid).
There is one thing that I would love the change but have 0 control over.
The club scene is changing its musical genres very fast it has become like the fashion industry, every year or two the main genre is out and the other comes in but the crowd is the same.
So as a local dj either you adapt and change your colors to the current genre or you will not play. I would love if the scene had more room for art and a bit less to what’s contemporary.
Finally, what can you tell us about your present and future projects?
*I have a 3 track EP coming out on 3-4-1 Cuts titled «Hieroglyphics» all the tracks were influenced from the sounds I hear around me here in Israel taking them and tying them with my Acid roots.
And another release coming soon on Ibogatech.
I am also working on a set made only from my original track which will be live-streamed.
