The HXAGRM label celebrates its three years of experience in electronic music with this limited edition vinyl from the artist Zigler, with remixes of Vertical Spectrum and Voidloss, with «Blood Pact»
All three artists create music that works in all settings and transcends genres. His openness to a wide range of sounds is what has made him a beloved favorite, but also someone who operates in his own parallel musical world. The unmatched style of each artist continues to expand with each release.
We have had the pleasure of interviewing Zigler, and this has been the result.
Enjoy it!
Can you tell us a little about your experience? Where are you from / how did you get into music? Was it all internet based?
My name is Piero Gigante aka Zigler, I come from southern Italy and I started my career almost for fun. I already loved house music back in 2000, and over the years I have enriched my cultural background until I got to techno music. Music was mainly played on CDs and vinyls, the internet was already being used to listen to and sell albums.
Who have been your main inspirations (both musical and in «life»)? And how have they affected your sound?
My music has been inspired by many artists, and my dream has always been to be able to make people dance and have fun, putting the right Sound and Flow, following a kind of Sound evolution. Mainly everything I’ve listened to has served as a cultural background, what has inspired me the most in my career have been various artists such as Oscar Mulero, Moddullar, Tensal, Kaiser and Luke Slater. Somehow they influenced my sound ideas and made me understand how sounds were created and structured.
How would you define your sound?
I would describe my sound as very hypnotic, with sounds that grow and vary, creating a kind of ancestral journey.
How has your sound evolved so far?
Over the years I have tried to enrich the choice of sounds so I bought machines and synthesizers, tired of the usual PC to produce, I preferred to have something analog to use, totally changing my sound knowledge.
What can you tell us about “Blood Pact”, your new work for Hxagrm Records? What inspired you? What do you want to convey?
Blood Pact was a wonderful project, very complex and elaborate, and with very good results. I never imagined that they would make a vinyl with two remixes. I wanted to transmit energy like all my records with very deep speakers and very dark and gloomy sounds.
What can you tell us about each song that makes up your latest work? What is hidden behind?
The meaning of this album comes from my interpretation of evil, of the Dark, like the pact that happened between Satan and Judas, a kind of blood pact, a form of possession of evil. I really love the dark world and everything about demons and hell. Every single track represents my vision of evil, like Judas’ betrayal and his deception of Jesus. Behind all this is a lot of study, a lot of effort and a lot of work to be able to modulate the right sound.
How are you living the current situation because of COVID? Has your work affected you a lot? Do you think there is hope? I feel like the underground scene will continue to persist.
The covid has crushed the dreams of many and made everything difficult by limiting us on everything, in Italy we are slowly recovering the old habits, like going dancing and having fun, but always with limits and restrictions. I think that soon all this will be a distant memory.
What projects are you working on right now?
At the moment I have a lot of projects in progress but I haven’t finalised anything, I’m trying to perfect myself more and more. For many months I have been working on a live show that I can play in clubs, totally analogue, just machines and synthesisers, pedals and mixers, nothing digital. I would like to stand out from other artists, and be able to do something original that will stick in the mind of the listener. Thank you very much for your availability!
