Swedish producer Patrik Kindvall has had a truly impressive start to his career as an artist as Klur. Two years after his debut release, he has harnessed his gorgeous melodic/prog house sound on the ten tracks that make up his debut album Visions.
It’s this same sound that has earned him a loyal following with over a million monthly listeners on Spotify, millions of streams across all platforms, DJ support from Lane 8, Madeon, Tritonal, Above & Beyond and more, all while is recognized as the third most streamed artist on SiriusXM Chill in the past year.
Klur has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting artists in his lane and Visions sees him bring his immaculate sound to life on ten glowing tracks that come together in a cohesive and thoughtful way.
Most of the album sees him fly solo, though he brings in Swedish vocalist Hildur Ottilia for a soulful collaboration ‘Heart To Heart’, and enlists the efforts of Oslo-based songwriter Ole-Bjørn Talstad for a gorgeous reworking. from ‘Tangled’. It has grown from strength to strength and Visions is an impressive and exceptional project from an artist just starting out.
A remix version of Visions, featuring re-imaginings by artists including Fejka, Modera and Martin Rott, will be released in April 2023.
We have had the pleasure of interviewing Klur and this has been the result.
Hi, great to have you with us today! How are you and where are you chatting to us from right now?
Hey! Thanks for having me. I’m at home in my studio.
Can you give us a bit of background about your journey in music so far?
Sure, I started out playing around with music programs when I was a kid and it developed into a hobby in my early teens. I never seriously tried to make a living out of it until my mid 20s and started improving my production skills, composing and piano playing more seriously. I got a job as a composer and an in-house producer and after that I started my own project Klur and here I am.
Your 2022 album landed on Enhanced Music. What do you look for in a label when you’re deciding where to release your music?
I look for people that I can have a great collaboration with and that are professional and have lots of ideas.
Are you back to touring now? If so, has it felt strange coming back to live appearances after the pandemic?
A tour is coming but not quite yet. The pandemic was overall good for my career because it gave me time in the studio to do a lot of music and it kinda kickstarted my career with Klur. My first EP release was in October 2020.
During the pandemic there was a lot of talk about what things people would like to change in the music industry. Now that things are getting back to normal, do you see any major changes?
I’m not sure I noticed that. I don’t really see any major changes except that people maybe are more used to having online meetings.
What’s on the cards for you in 2023?
After releasing the remix album version of my album Visions which has been super exciting and honoring, I have more music to be released and a few new collabs that will be exciting to announce. The next one is a collab EP release with Praana which will be out in May.
