Brazilian DJ, producer and multi-instrumentalist André Rech comes to Logia Records with “Astro Levitate”, a powerful EP in which he takes advantage of the solidity of a two-decade career in his artistic approach.
The EP features remixes by our own Cali Burton, currently based in Mexico, and Panko, a friend of the house, currently traveling between the Aztec country, Argentina and Brazil.
We have had the pleasure of interviewing André Rech and this has been the result.
1. Can you tell us a bit about your experience? Where are you from / how did you get into music? Does your training come from the Internet?
Hello how are you, my name is André Estevão Rech also known as André Rech, I live in the city of Capinzal in the state of Santa Catarina – Brazil. So it all started around the 2000s, when I set up a bar in my city and due to the lack of local artists and also because at the time it was unfeasible to bring artists from other places, I started DJing. The experience I have came through courses, the internet, friends, everything within my reach I seek.
2. Who have been your main inspirations (both musically and in life)? And how have they affected your sound?
So, I can’t say that I have a specific name, I listen to a lot of music every day, I’ve been in some bands too, so I have many names that I carry as references in both electronic and instrumental music.
3. How would you define your sound? And how has your sound evolved so far?
We can say that my sound is full of retro timbres, from the 70s, 80s and 90s, I’ve always had that taste, the evolutions I feel are more in the melodic part, in its composition and musical structure
4. What can you tell us about your last job? What inspired you? What do you want to transmit?
This production, which will be released at Logia, was something that came about unexpectedly, deviating a little from my production habits, I felt more enigmatic tones, hence the name of the EP and its songs, it was something I produced on a calm day in my city, I believe they send a message of self-knowledge, seeking peace
5. What can you tell us about each track that makes up your latest work? What concept do you want to convey?
The tracks were produced in a rainy and calm period, with a hint of mysticism and based on this I gave them a name, thus transmitting a message of tranquility and connection, whether with the music or the atmosphere that surrounds them.
6. How are you living the current situation due to COVID? Has it affected your work a lot?
Do you think there is hope? Do you feel that the underground scene will continue to persist?
The post-pandemic world sees many changes also impacting the musical world, I think that after the pandemic we had a musical curation, where the public seeks more quality in what they are listening to, so we DJs have to align ourselves with our audience
7. What projects are you working on right now?
At the moment I’m at a standstill, I had to focus more on my work, I ended up moving away from the studio a little, but I have some releases scheduled for this first semestre.
