Can you tell us a little about your experience? Where are you from / how did you get into music?
I’m a captain’s son and sailed on cargo ships since I was little – I sang for the dolphins up front competing with the ship – that was when I decided to pursue the life of musician, I was five years old
Who have been your main inspirations (both musical and in «life»)? And how have they affected your sound?
My main inspiration has always been experiencing the difficulties regarding human being relations. Reflecting on this creates a certain mood that leads to melodies and sounds.
How would you define your sound? And how has your sound evolved so far?
My sound is warm, I create them form my very own recordings, it is important for me in order be in touch with my music, and to get a unique sound nobody else has done before, it is my own handwriting so to speak
What can you tell us about your last work? What inspired you? What do you want to transmit?
The cello recordings I did with Lih Qun Wong inspired me and set the tone to some of the tracks. My travels inspired me. My aim to do music without thinking of it to become a source of revenue guided me. I want people to become silent and experience silence.
What can you tell us about each track of your new album? What concept do you want to convey?
The concept for every single track is to blend classical instruments with electronic or electro acoustic sounds, to merge a song with a track, to follow chance in the production process, to become the observer when music writes it’s story by itself
How are you living the current situation „after» COVID? Has it affected your work a lot?
It has efected my work giving me time to learn new things, like playing flamenco on a guitar.
I feel it has become harder to get gigs, to find companies that can create a structure in the industry, money is scarce, many had to close down
What projects are you working on right now?
I will be travelling to Lisbon to record an improv jazz quartet this month
I will work on these recordings for the next months and see what happens.
My aim is to make improv jazz audible outside of its niche.
